The scope of the work
As per the scope of the project, two semi-automated concrete batch plants with a total capacity of 185 m3/h was employed. Approximately 140,000 m3 excavation has been completed, 45,000 m3 of concrete and 2,000 tons of asphalt have been placed, 35,000 dowel bars, airfield lighting and flood lighting have been designed, procured, installed and commissioned.
Project also included de‐icing area, de‐icing liquid collection tank, and grounding and tie down points for aircrafts. All work was performed by SERKA and its Designer of Record. Design work was handled by Altan Engineering Ltd. The strategic ramp is designed to handle the parking of five C‐17A, seven KC‐135R aircrafts as well as a deicing area for a C‐5 aircraft. Site security in the construction area was also handled by Serka personnel. Serka provided diesel generators to power flood lightings.
